Mid-Season Review and Projections

We have passed the halfway mark for the season and are now in the home stretch, heading towards playoffs. We have an extremely tight playoff race right now considering only 3 games separates first and last place. Now it's time to look back at my pre-season projections and see how they have panned out. Since the standings are so tight, I am going go by total points scored this season. Am I a genius? I guess we'll find out.

Air Rick

My Grade: B

Total Points: 863.52

I might have underestimated my draft class. Starting out the year I had won 5 games in a row, looking like I was going to run away with the season. Unfortunately, I got my dick kicked in by Zach and then Scott in back to back weeks. Also unfortunately for me, 4 out of my 6 remaining games are against teams ranked numbers 2-5 in the standings. With tough remaining schedule I am predicting a final record of...

Final Record: 8-5

Geaux Tigahs

My Grade: B-

Total Points: 839.34

While I may have shit on Bryan and Justin in the comments of my projection, I did give them a decent grade. Geaux Tigah's core starters haven't really changed since week one, and considering he has the second most points scored, Bryan and Justin deserved a better grade. Luckily for Geaux Tigahs, 3 out of their 6 remaining games are against 3 of the teams at the bottom of the standings (Hutch, Jackson, Brandon). Barring an injury to a major starter, I see Geaux Tigahs making playoff this year.

Final Record: 8-5

The Sack

My Grade: A-

Total Points: 825.88

The Sack loves to change up his team, making 24 transactions this year, yet his starting lineup is almost the exact same as the beginning of the year. I guess when you have the two headed monster of DK Metcalf and Derrick Henry leading your team, you don't really need to change much else up. I think the A- I gave him at the beginning of the year holds up since Zach has put up the 3rd most points this year. Interestingly though, he has never led the league in scoring in any individual week, which just means he puts up consistently big numbers week after week.

Final Record: 9-4

The Commissioner

My Grade: B-

Total Points: 794.22

With the shocker of the century, the Commissioner has put up the 4th most points this season. Since he has a record of 2-5, I thought for sure that Brandon would be much lower on this list, but it turns out the Brandon holds the unfortunate position of having the most points scored against him. The only move he has made to his starting lineup is switching out Breida for Bradon Aiyuk. Honestly I could see Brandon putting his 4 game skid behind him and trying to make a serious push for playoffs. His team obviously has the capability of scoring points, he might just need a little luck to get the wins over his opponents. I think my B- grade was a little low considering how they have performed.

Final Record: 6-7

Ricky Spanish

My Grade: A

Total Points: 793.96

Tyler is having a typical fantasy football season. He has a couple weeks where his team shit the bed, a couple where they were decent, and few where they were the best in the league. This team seems to be a very hit or miss type of team. I think the A grade was acceptable at the beginning of the year. However, now with both of his starting running backs out, it looks like Ricky Spanish might hit the decline. However, even with a couple of scrub running backs anything can happen when you have Mahomes and Kittle. With only 1 bottom tier team left on the schedule, I can see Ricky Spanish possibly missing playoffs due to the strength of the teams he has to play. If he sticks to his hot or cold type play, theres a real chance he will miss playoffs.

Final Record: 7-6

Plop

My Grade: B

Total Points: 785.00

Has anyone else noticed that Cody has been alot more quiet this year? I guess thats what happens when you're not in first place. Anyways...I think my grade might have been a little too high for Cody. His team just lacks a little luster. Sure hes got Hopkins and Robby Anderson who can both go off at any moment, but he's also got Mixon who's only big week came when he had 2 TD's, and David Johnson who loves to stay in the 12 point range every week. I don't really see the rest of this season going too well for Cody. I'm predicting only 2 more wins for him this year.

Final Record: 6-7

Kyle's Team

My Grade: A-

Total Points: 783.74

I'm not really sure how he kept this season from falling apart, but he did. When you lose the #1 fantasy player, usually things go downhill. However Kyle's team of misfits have been able to put together a good amount of points week after week. Just a bunch of guys that aren't great, but they're good enough. Adding McCaffery back in a week or two is only going to help him. However, is Kyle's team just lucky? He's tied for the best record in the league, yet he is in the middle of the pack in points scored. Ahhh, he has the second fewest points scored against him. Looks like Kyle is just a pretender trying to fit in with the big boys. I'm predicting the upset of the season this week, Grunt beats Kyle's Team, sending him into a downward spiral and missing playoffs.

Final Record: 7-6

Torero Nation

My Grade: C+

Total Points: 781.53

I might have underestimated Colin's team at the beginning of the season. I thought he would be one of the worst teams in the league, however it turns out that he's just mediocre. His team scores a good amount of points every week, yet he just can't quite pull out some of the wins he needs to. Heavily relying on Mr. Unlimited, Zeke, and DJ Moore might turn out to hurt him in the long run. The rest of the players on Colin's team are people who have a couple of big weeks and then a couple of really bad weeks. If Colin picks the right players to play, he has the ability to make a push for playoffs, but I don't really see it happening for him this year.

Final Record: 7-6

Sam's Chicken Stars

My Grade: B

Total Points: 774.80

It's hard to say how well I graded Jackson's team at the beginning of the year because he essentially has an entire new team. The only remaining starters he has from week 1 are Tyler Lockett and Robbie Gould. Everyone else either got hurt, was dropped, or was traded. Honestly his team isn't that bad. If Michael Thomas will actually get healthy and stop fighting his teammates, Jackson might give his opponents some trouble. It kind of relies on that because if Thomas doesn't play then Jamison Crowder has to take his place. Sorry buddy, I only see you winning 1 more game.

Final Record: 3-10

Scott's Tots

My Grade: C+

Total Points: 773.82

Another surprise when it comes to total points. Scott just blew my dick off scoring 131 points last week, yet he's in 10th place when it comes to total points? I was confused to say the least. I expect him to make his way up the standing in the next few games now that Davante Adams is back. The next 4 weeks are extremely important for Scott as he faces some good teams and then will get two easy wins the last two weeks. If he can pull out 3 wins in the next 4 weeks, I think he will be a serious contender in playoffs. The question is, does Scott's team have the balls to do it?

Final Record: 8-5

Grunt

My Grade: C+

Total Points: 676.74

I'm sure he thought he was going to be a good team after winning week 1 but then Grunt saw a losing streak that has been unmatched, losing 5 in a row. The fantasy gods put their fists up his ass and ripped his heart out, without even lubing him up first. He lost Saquon and Zack Ertz and traded Chris Carson. I predicted him to win this week, but after that it doesn't look to good for Grunt.

Final Record: 3-10

CanGuardMike

My Grade: B-

Total Points: 658.64

This might have been my worst grade of all. Giving Hutch a B- will haunt me to the day I die. Over 200 points separates him from the first place team. In my defense, a lineup of Mike Thomas, OBJ, Todd Gurley, and Bobby Woods should have been good. I guess not. Although Hutch does have basically a new team. Unfortunately I don't think its going to change Hutch's luck too much. However, he did pick up Antonio Brown who's at least good for some entertainment, if nothing else. Maybe AB will lead Hutch to a few wins in his remaining games?

Final Record: 4-9
